WORKING TOGETHER TO CREATE NEW OUTCOMES

Meet the North East Wellbeing trustees

Sarah McTimmoney

Sarah McTimmoney

Chair of Trustees

Sarah is SENDCo and a teacher at The Dove Academy Trust (St Mary’s Cockerton, and High Coniscliffe Church of England Primary Schools) in Darlington.

The best thing about working with NEW is the chance to sit outside the whirl of the school day and make a difference to the wider picture of how children can be cared for – looking at developing skills, resilience, independence that are not part of the national curriculum. I love the ethos of NEW and have seen the difference it makes to children in schools. I would love to see the work and offer able to expand so more pupils can benefit.”

Michelle Brown

Michelle Brown

Trustee

Michelle is the manager at Clive Owen LLP Accountants and works in Darlington.

The best thing about working with NEW is the chance to get outside the legal bubble and contribute at the coalface.”

Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan

Trustee

Paul is an experienced business leader and entrepreneur, currently running a high tech manufacturing business for Bruker. Previously he has held roles as an applications scientist, in product marketing and technology development.

“I was interested in being involved in NEW as it was an opportunity to use my business and strategy skills for the benefit of children who really need help. A large part of the appeal was not just the work done but also the scientific analysis of the results to quantify the results. This is what sets NEW apart from other charities.”

Jess Hollingsworth

Jess Hollingsworth

Trustee

Committed to improving health inequalities and ensuring access to high-quality, empowering care across the entire life course; Dr Hollingsworth brings both clinical expertise and strategic insight to their role as a charity trustee. They are passionate about shaping health systems that are equitable, person-centred, and responsive to the diverse needs of communities.

Dr Hollingsworth trained at University College London before relocating to the North-East, where they developed broad experience working across secondary care settings throughout the region. This foundation informed their transition into General Practice, where they have been able to focus more directly on continuity of care and community-based health outcomes. They are currently a salaried GP at Moorlands Surgery in Darlington.

Alongside their clinical role, Dr Hollingsworth serves as Clinical Lead for Personalised Care for Hartlepool and Stockton Health Federation. Prior to this she was Clinical Lead for Social Prescribing and Health inequalities at Holgate PCN Middlesbrough. In this capacity, they have led and contributed to a range of collaborative, population-based initiatives across the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint. Their work reflects a strong commitment to embedding personalised care approaches, expanding social prescribing, and advancing preventive population health strategies.

Known for their thoughtful and collaborative approach, Dr Hollingsworth is dedicated to fostering partnerships that drive meaningful improvements in service design and delivery. They are particularly focused on developing equitable services that empower patients, reduce disparities, and support healthier communities through innovation and shared learning.

“The best thing about working with NEW is being with a group of people who share the belief that children should be at the centre of our thinking”
