CONNECTING RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

The team

Zone West offers children a unique relationship with an inspiring professional over the long term. At the centre are our Link Workers, Tina, Claire and Amanda. They work with school and in school. They put your child at the centre. And then they link to resources in the community.

Tina Simbo

Tina Simbo

Link Worker, Zone West

My name is Tina. I am an experienced and qualified community and youth worker who was raised in the west end of Newcastle from a young age and have worked in the area for almost 20 years.

I have delivered educational workshops in schools across the North East and developed adult education and training. I have worked for established charities such as the former Scotswood Area Strategy, Streetwise Young People Project, Show Racism the Red Card and the Angelou Centre. Also, I love trees, dancing, being creative and working with children and young people. I really enjoy using my imagination to think of new ways of doing things and one of my favourite phrases is ‘team work makes the dream work’!

Claire Crow

Claire Crow

Link Worker, Zone West

My name is Claire, I take a solution focused approach to providing one to one and group engagement to develop relationships with children as a trusted adult.

I have experience of working in mainstream and alternative educational provision as a Learning Mentor and Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Worker. Recent work with adults in the voluntary sector has enhanced my understanding of how issues such as mental health, poverty, substance use and domestic abuse can impact parenting.

Verity Marshall

Link Worker, Zone West

My name is Verity. I am a ‘Southerner’ but have lived in the North East for over 20 years, have brought my two, now grown-up daughters up here and it feels like home!

I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and have worked with different ages and in various educational settings over the years, including supporting school refusers/those excluded from school. I have developed a passion for promoting wellbeing and positive mental health in schools and have done additional training with Young Minds and the impact of trauma on a child’s development through The Anna Freud Learning Network.

I love that in my work I have the opportunity to use my skills to work closely with children on a 1-1 and group basis in school yet also develop relationships with their families in the community. The link worker role is fulfilling, fun and I am privileged to be part of the Zone West team!
