What is Zone West?

Zone West is the name of an 18-month pilot project funded by voluntary sector grants to explore the use of link workers to help improve the lives of primary school children. It is only working with children and families in the West End of Newcastle. It will run from September 2019 to August 2020. The link workers will work with children identified from their school by designing a programme of assets for the child personalised to their specific needs.

What has it got to do with me?

We probably will have already been talking to you about the extra resources and activities we want for
your child’s health and development. Very simply, we think your child may benefit from some personalised support. It’s free and independent. We hope you agree!

What happens next?

If you are happy for your child to be considered for the project, please complete the consent form on the back. Your child’s name and your contact details will then be passed to the link worker assigned to their school. If they are selected to take part you will be contacted to arrange a first visit from the link worker.

What happens if I say no?

If you say no, your information will not be given to the link worker. Nothing else will happen. Your child will continue to receive the standard support at their school.

Does my child have to take part?

No. If you do not wish your child to take part you can say no to this offer. If you are unsure you can receive more information by contacting the school and then make a decision.Adapted intro copy here. At the centre are our Link Workers, Tina and Claire. They work with school and in school. They put your child at the centre. And then they link to resources in the community.
