North East Wellbeing provides a confidential school counselling service delivered by a suitably
qualified and experienced counsellor for pupils who require social, behavioural and/or emotional
support. The Couselling service aims to improve children's self-esteem and develop
self-management strategies and increase emotional resilience.
Our qualified Counsellors provide support to children, young people and parents as individuals
and as well as small group work. A variety of techniques are used to encourage children to
express themselves their difficulties. Issues that may benefit from counselling include children's
family or school relationships, bullying, anxieties, behavioural or emotional issues, bereavement
The Counselling service provided by North East Wellbeing is tailored to meet the demands and needs of the school and individual children. Counsellors assess the primary needs of children and young people and formulate clear, meaningful and appropriate therapeutic programmes to address these needs. The number of sessions delivered are negotiated according to the needs of pupils and the structure of the school timetable. The service therefore works flexibly with school timetables whilst ensuring the child is provided with maximum support for their development and progression. Each service is unique and specified for each school, and delivered in accordance with this specification.
